About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an additional CNC Setter/Operator with leadership qualities to join their Hamilton based manufacturing plant.  They specialise in water, fluid, thermal management and equipment protection and have evolved through an ongoing commitment to best manufacturing practices, innovative design, customer service, technology and quality delivery.

Job tasks and responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • set, adjust and operate CNC turning or machining centres, which includes setting up cutting and shaping tools and setting controls for machines
  • consult drawings and specifications to provide input for design/ manufacturing improvements,
  • identify and recommend programme or process improvements to reduce machining time, while maintaining accuracy,
  • ensure machines and immediate work areas are at 5S standards,
  • identify tooling and fixture deficiencies and propose improvements,
  • forming metal parts to fine tolerances using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal
  • finding faults and performing operational maintenance on machines
  • ensure product quality standards are upheld.

Skills and experience

You bring:

  • Tertiary qualified in Mechanical Engineering or alternatively minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production CNC machine environment,
  • Worked with Okuma, Fanuc &/ Siemens Controllers
  • Familiar with ISO-G Code
  • Quality orientated with keen attention to detail and deadlines,
  • The ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure environment,
  • Flexible across a range of machine operations incl. manual lathes, lathes and turning,
  • A professional manner in dealing with others and  maintaining constructive working relationships,
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills,
  • A high degree of personal integrity and exemplary professional standards,
  • A desire to grow in areas of expertise as needed by the evolving needs and goals of the company.
