The opportunity
This is a key role to meet customer needs and support growth within this established and successful business. They have a strong history of success and this is a continuing trend, as they are well on their way to achieve new levels. As the GM - Workshops, you will lead and manage staff nationally, drive quality, meeting maintenance objectives and initiate and maintain safe working practices.
The role
Reporting to the Engineering Director, this role will see you managing the company’s engineering resources to ensure best practice operation and delivery of well-maintained fleet is achieved at all time. This role will fully utilise your prior staff management and leadership experience along with your ability to implement maintenance best practices and ensure all health and safety obligations are met. We are looking for a detail orientated, pragmatic yet inspiring person for this role who can support the Workshop Managers and ensure all areas are sufficiently resourced to maintain engineering best practices.
In addition to this, we are looking for:
- Proven experience in fleet and workshop management with strong mechanical knowledge.
- High level fleet management in a complex large scale and varied fleet.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral (at a variety of levels).
- Regular reporting to senior management.
- Planning and process focused with good administration skills.
- Staff supervision and training
- Project management skills
- Good computer skills and an ability to assimilate and embrace new technology.
- Strong Health and Safety understanding and knowledge.
